This is our time in a nutshell. If these kids hadn't worn MAGA hats, would any of the publicity be happening? Truth does exist; it cannot be changed no matter how many ways it is manipulated for a political argument. Politics have become as religion with people believing what they believe and holding fast to it no matter what. It is very sad, as putting our faith in human beings will always result in disappointment. Why do we rush to say "I'm right!"? If I scream "I'm right," I'm implicitly saying "You're wrong." Just like with religion. If we do not de-escalate these arguments, what will become of our nation? How far from violence are we?
If your beliefs about religion or politics or education or Severus Snape differ from mine, that's okay. We can agree to disagree. Who wins if we not only pick apart every motivation of each individual involved in these scenarios but also pick apart even what happened? There is a truth about events and no matter how many "pundits" on however many media outlets being paid however much to spew vitriol toward the other "side" try to twist the truth, truth is unbiased. It simply exists. If I don't like the truth because it undermines my political beliefs, then I need to examine my political beliefs rather than attack those who disagree. Why do we give our time to those who encourage us to hate each other? By their fruits shall ye know them.
In terms of politics, we speak with our votes. Those screaming at us to incite rage simply want ratings. We speak by not watching them.
